Volunteer

Thank you for expressing interest in volunteering with Lansing PTA! With many hands, we have light work. Even an hour of help makes a difference! Please take a look at some of the committees that we have available. If you see an area in which you’d like to assist, please contact us at  LansingPTA.K5@gmail.com  with your name and how we can reach you.
Please note: You do not have to do it all when you sign up for a committee – we will ensure that no one is taking on more than they feel comfortable with! If you would like to assist in other ways not listed here, please let us know how you'd like to help.

We are so happy to have you here!

Outreach & Advertising Committee

Members will attend various events as representatives of the organization to help promote Lansing PTA (i.e. Meet the Teacher, Open House, Kindergarten Roundup). Members will also be involved in distributing flyers to teacher mailboxes, advertising PTA events, and placing signs for events on the school properties to increase awareness and family participation.

Family Engagement Committee

Members will develop a plan for family engagement opportunities.  We already have 4 skate nights planned for this year as well as a Veterans Day Tribute!  Additional events could include book bingo, 5k fun run, science/music/art fair, family game night, or health and wellness event. (Let’s get creative and have some fun!)  Once the calendar is set, a chairperson will be selected to head up the efforts of planning and execution for each event.  Events can vary in size and scope, but ideally, the PTA would like to offer 3 mid-sized  events (fall, winter & spring).  If you know what event you would like to lead, please add that information to your sign-up.

Teacher Appreciation Committee
(Parent/Teacher Conference meals)

Members will plan meals for teachers while they are conducting fall and spring parent/teacher conferences. This typically includes a dinner, light breakfast, and lunch for each conference window. This year’s dates are October 11&12 and February 14&15. There is a budget to assist in the execution of this effort; however, soliciting community donations or organizing a potluck sign-up would be fiscally beneficial and create an opportunity for the community to participate.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Committee
(Appreciation Week is May 6-10, 2024)

Members will plan and execute ways to show appreciation during Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week (May 6-10, 2023). There is a budget to assist in the execution of this effort. Typically, there is a daily gesture (i.e. donuts & coffee, candy bar, pizza lunch, etc.).

Fundraising Committee

Members will plan and run fundraising opportunities to raise the funds needed to support PTA programs. We currently have a fall fundraiser scheduled, as well as smaller ongoing fundraisers (i.e. spiritwear, family food nights, etc.)  We are seeking additional ideas.

Yearbook Committee

Members will assist with SCH Photo picture days (September 19 @ LES & 20 @ LIS). In addition to the provided student and staff photos, members will solicit community photos. These will be compiled in a yearbook. Members will advertise yearbook sales and collect orders. Yearbooks will be distributed at the end of the year.

Book Fair Committee

Members will coordinate and execute a book fair. Some of the basic duties are promotion of the event, ordering/delivery of books, set up, and break down of book fair. Members will solicit additional volunteers to help work during the bookfair operating hours. (Scholastic Book Fairs are currently scheduled for October 11/12 and February 14/15)
